Yemen’s Houthis say several ballistic missiles targeted the Saudi-flagged NCC Ghazal after the chemical and oil-products tanker allegedly ignored warnings and violated their maritime navigation ban. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree did not claim that the vessel was sunk, but said the operation forced it to “retreat and return.” The latest claim has not been independently verified. It follows attacks involving the Saudi tankers Encelia, Layla and NCC Masa, with Saudi authorities previously confirming fire aboard the Encelia and minor hull damage to the NCC Masa. The Houthis say their “blockade for a blockade” campaign will continue in retaliation for Saudi-led restrictions on Yemen. By forcing vessels to alter course without necessarily sinking them, the group is attempting to make Saudi Arabia’s crucial Red Sea trade corridor commercially and operationally unsafe. Watch.
