Fresh tensions have erupted in the Middle East after Saudi Arabia said its air defences intercepted and destroyed multiple drones targeting oil facilities in the Kingdom’s Eastern Province. Riyadh alleged that the drones were launched from Iraqi territory by Iran-aligned militias, describing the operation as another “terrorist attempt.” Saudi military spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki said the Kingdom reserves the right to respond at a time and place of its choosing. Iran, however, has strongly denied any involvement. An informed Iranian military official told state broadcaster IRIB that Tehran had “no connection” to projectiles fired from other countries toward Saudi Arabia and rejected attempts to link such attacks to the Islamic Republic.
